Gust forecasts for crane and work-at-height limits
Wind limits decide whether a crane can lift, an elevating work platform can go up or a roof sheet can be handled. Lumen Sites forecasts gusts hour by hour for each site and shows when they cross your limits.
How it works
- Hourly gust forecasts for the next 48 hours, plus the daily maximum gust for 7 days.
- A caution limit and a stop limit for each site, 38 and 50 km/h by default, set to match your crane, EWP or scaffolding limits.
- Every hour at or above a limit is shaded on the timeline, and the site card shows the peak gust for the next 12 hours.
Wind is stronger higher up
Forecast gusts are for 10 m above the ground. Wind usually increases with height, so a crane boom or a tall structure can see stronger gusts than the forecast. Use the manufacturer’s limits and an anemometer at height for the lift itself, and use the forecast to plan which hours to schedule it in.
Rain and blasting on the same screen
The same timeline shows rainfall against your haul-road thresholds and flags temperature inversions with light wind, which can hold blast fumes and dust close to the ground.
